About reflexology

Reflexology is the art of applying pressure to reflex points on our hands or feet to stimulate a reflex reaction in other areas of the body.

Most of my work is concentrated around the feet. As shown in the image, the feet are a road map for the body. Reflex points across the feet are connected directly to different organs, glands and other parts of the body, and by stimulating these points reflexology helps relax tension throughout the body (and mind) thereby improving blood supply and balance in the whole body system.

A reflexology treatment is an extremely relaxing and soothing experience and may help to relieve many conditions. Due to the pressure applied, the treatment does not tickle! The nerves in the feet are worked, different pressure is used (from light to firm) on the feet, ankles and up to the knees. The treatment lasts about an hour, sometimes slightly longer depending on what is being treated.

Reflexology has stood the test of time; there is evidence dating back to 4,000 B.C. in China, India and Egypt. There are regular mentions of foot treatments throughout history, but modern reflexology was pioneered by Eunice Ingham in the 1930s who first mapped the zones of the foot in relation to the body.
